Rivalry Renewed: U-M, Ohio State To Meet in "The Dual"Published by
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- One aspect of the heated Michigan-Ohio State rivalry will be rejuvenated in January 2008 with the reinstatement of "The Dual," pitting the University of Michigan men's track and field team against its counterpart from OSU in dual-meet competition. "Both programs are very excited about this inaugural renewal and upcoming series" said U-M head coach Ron Warhurst. "It's going to be a great meet, in particular this year, because the teams are so evenly matched." Michigan, which has won 26 Big Ten indoor team titles and 30 conference outdoor championships, and Ohio State, which owns nine Big Ten titles (five outdoor, four indoor), have produced icons of the sport in Eddie Tolan and DeHart Hubbard of U-M and Jesse Owens and Mal Whitfield of OSU.
