Melbourne, Australia – After a troubled buildup to his first 100m race of the year Jamaica’s Asafa Powell won easing up in 10.04sec and started World record talk at the Melbourne Grand Prix on Thursday. The IAAF World Athletics Tour resumed in style with American Jeremy Wariner opening the defence of his Olympic 400m title with a superb 44.82 in his first lap of the 2008 season, while local heroes Scott Martin smashed the Australian record with a Shot Put of 21.27m and Craig Mottram finished strongly to win over 5000m in 13:11.99 from a good international field.
